Winner of GIRLy Giveaway

Submitted by on August 31, 2009 – 7:10 pm 9 Comments

Using Random.org to make the selection, I have a winner: Reader#9! You get a hardcover copy of Stieg Larsson’s The Girl Who Played with Fire and dragon tattoos. Send me your details, please (click on “Contact” in upper right corner).

But wait—there’s a twist! (Can’t have a mystery without one, right?) Due to the number of entrants, I felt bad I could have only one winner so I decided to give away my softcover ARC, too. This was no easy decision since I love this book so much. But, like the cheesy saying goes, I love it enough to let it go, because it needs to go out into the world and be read by as many as possible.

So, I went back to random.org and had it pick out another winner for me. And the second winner is: Eddy! If you don’t mind getting an ARC (it’s quite close to the finished version), e-mail me your addy and I’ll get this out to you.

Thanks to all for entering and telling me about great foreign titles I need to check out. Keep your eyes peeled for more giveaways soon!

    Yay, congrats Reader#9 and Eddy! You are very generous, PCN. {“…email me your addy…” LOL!}

  • Debbie says:

Congrats to Reader #9 and Eddy! “…email me your addy…” reminds of “who’s your daddy? Uh, yeah August was a very long month for me. 🙂

  • Eddy says:

First off, it was an honor just to be nominated. The people I was up against are amazing. I really never thought this day would come. I’d like to thank everyone who made this possible. PCN of course. A big shout out to Random.org! I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Stieg Larsson who started it all. (Playoff music starts). That’s all the time they are giving me. Thanks to everyone! (Music gets louder.) Oh, and thanks to Bob who brought us all together! (Big fake thrown kisses, walks off in the wrong direction and has to be herded to the backstage area.)

    • Reader#9 says:

Yes, Eddy, you were up against some amazing competition, but as PCN, mentioned, it was just a random selection, so–

Oh, wait a second…I WON????!!!! YAY!!! (cue Suppertime! Dance as interpreted by Snoopy)

Emailing you my address right now, PCN!

      WOO-HOO!!!!

  • Pop Culture Nerd says:

I didn’t realize I’d made a funny with my “addy” comment. I was too lazy to type out “address.” Well, that and the mild carpel tunnel.

Congrats to the winners! Eddy, your acceptance speech is HILARIOUS. I’d never let them play you off the stage. Reader#9, please send a video clip of your Snoopy dance!

  • Eddy says:

PCN, I forgot to mention that, as I was giving my speech, I was leaning far over the podium with my lips almost touching the microphone and making it “pop” with every other word. (You’d think that movie and television actors would know better since the mics are no where near their mouths when they are performing.)

Oh, did you get my emails (2)?

  • Eddy says:

I recieved the book this weekend. Great timing, I just finished my last book (” Settling Accounts: In at the Death” by Harry Turtledove) and was in “What’s Next?” Limbo. I’m already deep into it. It is not disappointing. Thanks agan, PCN.
