Alain Delon is not anymore the young beautiful idol he used to be, but he’s definitely a nice reference! Your French culture definitely rocks!!
]]>And yes, I will continue to watch French films. You know who my very first movie star crush was when I was little? Alain Delon!
]]>I read the whole article you mentioned and I have to say it is a jumble of mistakes and stupid rumors!…
It is really annoying to see that some people can get so far away from truth and spread their nonsense…
What a shame! 🙁
Here in France (where the Festival was actually held!), Mrs Huppert and the rest of the jury have been acclaimed for a great work by both audience and reviews.
Most papers and TV shows say this Festival was a very good edition, ending with a well-selected prize list.
Even before the prize ceremony, “The white ribbon” was considered as one of the most probable Palme d’Or since its showing had been a very sucessful one. I’m quite sure that any other jury without Isabelle Huppert would have chosen this movie too.
And if “The prophet” had been chosen as the big winner, no doubt that Isabelle Huppert would have been accused to give the most coveted award to a French movie (plus last year’s Palme d’or was already a French film)…
Anyway, this article is full of mistakes and wrong information (Alain Resnais’s movie was very well received, Terry Gilliam’s movie could not win anything since it was not part of the official selection, etc.)!
I’m not being chauvinistic but realistic about all this, so trust me: don’t trust anything this trashy article says! 😉
And keep on watching French movies, I’m so glad you do that! 😉
(Plus this will help you regain your French!)
I do know Isabelle Huppert (most of my family speaks French so we see a lot of French movies) and was dismayed to read this nasty article about her in the Hollywood Reporter. Could you please tell me if the French media are really saying these things about her?
Oh, and I like your promotion of French stars because it helps me learn about actors I may not have heard of. Feel free to plug away!
]]>PS: Everyone knows Isabelle Huppert here. She’s great.
]]>You definitely chose great pictures!
Diane Kruger looks amazing, Tilda Swinton is so classy and I’ve been a long time admirer of beautiful and talented Robin Wright! Give her some old jeans and a dirty shirt and she still looks gorgeous!
I was wondering: do you know the French actress Isabelle Huppert in the US?
She was the head of the jury who awarded the “Palme d’or” to Michael Haneke, the very same one who enabled her to win Best Actress in Cannes 8 years ago for “La pianiste”.
And she’s one of our most talented subtle and clever actresses!
(Tell me if I’m being excessively chauvinistic with my references to French stars! 😉 )
It’s enough to make me switch teams.
]]>PCN, I especially love your description: “Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looks like Venus rising out of her clamshell in this seafoam blue gown.” She does!
I love all of these except {I’m almost scared to say it} Angelina’s. As sensational as her physique is, I’m not a fan of the side slit up to the whatsy. But I’m guessing men may possibly disagree.
]]>Always appreciate classy women looking hot! Although I have no idea why David Bowie is wearing a dress….oh, wait a minute, that’s Tilda Swinton? LOL!
