Though much of my love for this book is due to Dennis Lehane's remarkable writing, this looks good, too! There are lots of intense scenes in the story which would translate into striking images. I hadn't heard about this and now I want to get my hands on it. Thanks for the heads up! BTW, have you started Where Men Win Glory yet? I had to finish up another book but I'm starting Glory today or tomorrow. SO excited!

My brother-in-law stumbled upon the set in Maine! He called and said, “You know anything about a movie shooting here right now that’s got Leonaahdo (Maine pronunciation) DiCaprio in it? I just drove past them filming somethin’.”

My response: “Wha…?! You’re looking at the next Scorsese movie!”

Eddy, now that you mention it, I have that same phobia. I’ve never done drugs and don’t even drink because I’m terrified of anything that might mess with my mind. But I loved the book so I don’t know what that says about me.

First, let me say that I love Lehane’s books. But, I think I’m the only person who didn’t like Shutter Island. It’s not Lehane, though, it’s me. (Without giving away anything that isn’t revealed in the trailer) I think I must have a phobia of losing total control of my life. So when I read a book or see a movie where the character is no longer in control and can’t separate fantasy from reality, I automatically don’t like it. I’m sure the movie will be great and will do well and be recognized, but I have to admit that I cringe at the thought of going to see it. (Although my wife may make me go see it because she really liked the book. Ahh, the things we do for love.)

Oh, PCN, what are you doing to us??? {Kidding, of course! Keep them coming ~ it’s so great to know which books to head for.} I’m tempted to wait and see the movie first Then read the book. I’ll see how the reading stack goes as we get closer to October!
