I was also blown away by Titanic (I cried just reading the script before the movie came out) so if you’re comparing this to that then I can’t wait. It’s so exciting when movies can transport us in the way you describe.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I’m a big fan of James Cameron and a Scifi/fantasy geek to be sure but I’m also a film buff in general and I have to say that this movie delivered. Much of the story line was predictable and there was really not much character development but I was very much on board with the theme and though he either stole or paid homage to many books and movies (at times I was keeping count- Pocahontas and Last of the Mohicans really come to mind) he still managed to keep me interested and sympathetic to the characters because he presents this all in a fresh and interesting way. I don’t know where to begin on the effects but trust me… they were unbelievable and well worth the price of admission. I’m going to see it again in 3D. How many times in recent memory could you say you wished a movie wouldn’t end? That’s the feeling you get and I haven’t felt that way in a long time.

Can you believe I haven’t seen it? I had every intention of doing so first thing Friday but life got in the way. I’ve had nonstop obligations since then.

What did YOU think? Do tell!

Seen it twice now (IMAX 3-D). With a friend on Friday, and with my kids yesterday. People applauded both times when the credits came up.

I’ll look for your review and thoughts, PCN.

I’m hopeful again, though Entertainment Weekly said it still lacks heart, which would be a big problem for me if true.

I plan to see it this Friday and review it here so stay tuned!

Maybe the marketing blitz is getting to me? They keep talking about it as a whole new experience, so I’m liking it to trying out a new amusement park ride. And I DID really enjoy T2, Alien, Titanic. So … guess I’m officially game! (unless the reviews are really bad)

I didn’t see that tweet but I’ve been reading a bunch of enthusiastic reviews from the trades, Entertainment Weekly and the like. I’m a little more excited now though EW mentions something I’m still worried about: The movie lacks heart.
