Loved those excerpts, PCN; Shenny sounds like quite a gal. I’m familiar with the Shenandoah Valley, too—such a beautiful place—so I think I’ll check this out.

I don’t know why, but the cover really speaks to me. It reminds me of a river that used to run by my house when I was growing up in rural New England. It’s kind of haunting. So many books….so little time.

Wow…now that DOES sound like an interesting read. Have to admit, the cover art and title didn’t really do anything to grab my attention, but reading a bit about the “meat” of the story, well my mind is certainly changed…and curious! Love the two quotes you included. Agreed that the first is a heart wrencher (someone smack the judge upside the head…seriously, answer the notes) and the second shows her spunkiness indeed (as well as creative flair from the author). Thanks for sharing! ^_^

“The kid could throw himself on the floor and miss.”? That line is going up on the wall of my cubicle today!! That’s funny.

The rest of the excerpts sound heartbreaking. I love and hate books like that. Those are the kind I have to put down and walk away from after every chapter and cry a little.

I have heard much about Lesley Kagen, so I am looking forward to finally reading her.
