I think an annual tradition is a great idea. My obsession with trains will be well served by taking the overnight down for the festival every year. 🙂

Great recap! It was so much fun meeting everyone and going to the festival for the first time! Now my lazy butt just needs to get the pictures off my camera so that I can share…

le0—I don’t know if I was in reporter mode; that’s kind of my usual nerdy mode. And thanks for letting me hang out with you and your beautiful family.

Jen—I don’t use whatever the official shorthand is. I just have my own shorthand that I created when I started keeping a journal as a kid. I wanted to make sure no one could read/understand it if they ever snooped through it. You’d think I was keeping sensitive CIA files in my room!

Christine—I’ve never heard of the Gregg shorthand but am interested to hear more about it. And thanks for getting the tickets and FedExing them out! You and Michael are beyond organized. We missed you, by the way. I hope I won’t have to wait another year to see you again.

Did any of you ever take the Gregg shorthand in school? I don’t remember anything from my class, but it would be kind of fun to find one of those old textbooks.

I was thinking of you all the whole day. The panel sounds wonderful…did you use short hand Elyse? Whenever I’m at events taking notes, I always wish I knew short hand. Excited to hear about the Crais interview!

Excellent recap, Elyse. You nailed it! I must say, watching your concentration and note-taking during the event, you were in true reporter mode. I was impressed. And Paulette is one awesome person. OG Craisie! Finally meeting up with wordy one and her husband was equally satisfying, too. So many great people on one small campus (my alumna wife's old stomping grounds) made it another truly memorable L.A. Times Festival of Books. Thanks for this.
