The thing that bothers me though is if The Glee Project was successful in the ratings, then other shows will start casting people based on a 12-week competition instead of an actor coming in to audition and only getting one shot at it. People who actually study acting for that one shot at a role will be replaced by wannabe reality stars whom egomaniacal casting directors and producers nurture along on national TV instead of auditioning real actors. None of the kids in this competition were union actors. By making a non-union actor into a union actor, it’s a slap in the face for all those union actors who paid their dues. I can’t believe SAG/AFTRA/AGVA allowed this to happen.
