The show was just okay. Not as negative as last time, but not over the top crazy in any way. I chuckled a few times. Wasn’t the worst or the best I have seen. I did think Gervais summed it up best when he spoke of the GG being the show with “less esteem”.

Hugo deserves Best Cinematography, not Best Director or Best Pic.

Antonio was reciting poetry? Interesting.

I also like how humble and gracious Meryl Streep is whenever she wins something, giving attention to people who may not be household names but no less deserving of praise. And I want the uncensored show, too!

Yeah. I liked that too. What I didn’t understand was why instead of “insulting” Ricky in spanish, Banderas resorted to poetry. That was lame, IMHO, and perhaps the reason Salma told she didn’t understand him either.

That and we mexicans have trouble understanding a lot of spaniards.

Loved it when Selma Hayak said she couldn’t understand Antonio Banderas either in their stint ;-).

I missed the first hour of the Globes tonight, so I missed Gervais’s opening monologue and a few awards. For the most part, I think it wasn’t as fun as last year (at least, it was fun with Ricky bashing everybody).

I liked how Ludovic Bource excused himself by saying he’s french… and next Madonna told that she had no excuse for blabbering, since she isn’t.

And if you’re really curious, Sofia Vergara’s part of the speech was saying she thanked a lot of people, and specially Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek for handling it (there was nothing of note).

I loved Morgan Freeman’s speech. And I almost spit my coffee (out of laughter) when he said he wouldn’t want to piss Helen Mirren off after seeing her handle a machine gun.

I think Meryl Streep is a class act. Every time she wins something she aknowledges the work of other people, and she at least makes it as is she actually means it. She made shout outs to people who weren’t even in the room, and I think that’s amazing and humble. BTW, the telecast wasn’t censored here in Mexico, so I could actually hear Streep saying “Shit”.
