Like Jenn, I’m a Jonny Lee Miller fan but perhaps I’m biased by the hottie factor. That’s enough to make me watch, though. It will be easier for me because I’m not a Holmesian expert, so I won’t have the same expectations. Looking forward to this one arriving here.

I’m just not sure about this. I really like Johnny Lee Miller (though it’s more of an “I’ve got the hots for him” than I love his acting kind of thing). And I’m all for updating Sherlock (love the Cumberbatch), but I’m going to be a real stick in the mud about a female Watson. It totally changes the dynamic, in my opinion, and I don’t like it.

Plus, I love Sherlock’s Watson (can’t remember his name) so very much. He makes the show for me, even more than Cucumber.

Hugh Laurie would be brilliant! When House first came out, I was attracted to the show because the promo materials said he was like a medical Sherlock Holmes.

I got that same tome from the library in the summer of 1981 and did the same thing—cover to cover within a month or so. Even if you don’t like TV, you might enjoy BBC’s Sherlock on DVD. It’s most excellent.

I don’t think I will accept another Holmes after Cumberbatch. Unless it’s Hugh Laurie. I will watch Hugh Laurie in anything.

The very first “big book” I purchased as a teen was The Complete Sherlock Holmes – I read it cover to cover that summer. I don’t know how I feel about my oldest fave detective becoming episodic television. But then, I’m not a TV fan to begin with.
