And I also agree with most of your observations. Amy & Tina were killer (I couldn’t hold my laughter at the Taylor Swift joke), and liked many of the speeches.
I don’t know if Jackman was more deserving than Cooper, though. I’ll have to wait until mid-february to watch “Les Misérables”, which I’m dying to see if only for the great things I’ve been hearing & reading about Anne Hathaway’s performance (I did read your review, BTW).
I’m not sure about Christoph Waltz win, only because he wasn’t nearly as good in “Django” as he had been in “Basterds”, but I’m not HFPA, am I? (And I don’t want to be, because there’s no cure!)
Loved your post!
]]>I haven’t seen LINCOLN. The studio chose not to send out screeners, and invited voters to screenings instead. Because of my rehearsal schedule, though, I haven’t been able to attend any. Will go to my local theater and check it out soon.
]]>I didn’t watch the red carpet arrivals this year because I wasn’t home, but that’s weird if people were commenting on women’s breasts. What if someone said, “Look at Clooney’s trouser package!”?
As for the gawker article, I agree with it on many points, but must take umbrage at the statement that Foster has spent her life pursuing fame. It’s a false assumption that’s what all actors do. Some just want to work, like Daniel Day-Lewis. When he’s not doing a film or collecting awards, we don’t hear a peep from him. He only garnered attention because his astounding talent can’t be denied, not because he’s a fame whore. The people who pursue stardom for its own sake usually have nothing else to offer.
]]>Maybe we should be saying, “Who does Jon Hamm have to f… oh, never mind.” Always fun to hear your thoughts on these programs, Elyse :-).
BTW, She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed thought Chastain should never wear her hair like that ever again ;-).
]]>re: lena dunham -> probably just part of her “oh, i’m just a goofy real person with a four million dollar book deal. look at how authentic i am. have you seen my boyfriend’s glasses? : also, what was up with her tattoos. i have never seen her tv show so i was not familiar with her inkings. they’re kinda like fading prison tattoos, aren’t they? that one-color blotchy look. but they weren’t that well done. i don’t know. if you’re going to show off your ink, i mean, do whatever you want. i’m not judging. but, dang. those were bad.
and speaking of the womenz, when did it become ok with everyone to talk about boobies like that? whether on the network red carpet or the e show, everything was “look at her rack” and all. geez. they didn’t do anything like that with the guys. and was any man ever asked who he was wearing? no. they were all asked about their work and their art. ridiculous.
everyone on the golden globes that came from saturday night live totally killed it last night.
