I didn’t watch the SAGs so I’m happy to read your recap. I think Marion is wearing my favorite dress. Those first two are very unfortunate.
I saw Lincoln and think Daniel deserves his win. Saw Silver Linings Playbook this weekend and really liked it. I still need to see Argo and I want to see The Impossible even though it’s not playing around here anymore 🙁

Marion Cotillard does wear that gown beautifully. And I’m besotted with French navy at the moment, so even better. I’m kicking myself for missing Argo when it was playing here. DVD release is around end of February so I’ll have to hang in there until then! Thanks for the wrap, PCN, as these aren’t shown on free-to-air here. And even if they were, I’d still want to see your thoughts on the matter. Break a leg, by the way!

Yes, and while my years in theatre (sound designer, set design and stage management) has not made me immune to the thrill of live performances, the obnoxious factor of my otherwise wonderful better half kills it for me when it comes to the award shows…or any other kind of show he has worked on. When the Mac was introduced during the Superbowl way back in the 80s, everyone at our party had to hear the details of what went into that introduction. In detail. And the meetings with Jobs and all the rest of it. Remember the spinning Oscar in the 90s? Oh, the stories he can tell. Actors dropping their pants to inject insulin in front of the crew? Ick. I’ll stick to reading your reactions instead. Besides, I love your commentary!

My first job in L.A. was as a tour guide at Universal Studios. I told behind-the-scenes stories every day but somehow it never made me immune to the magic of movies. When I jump watching a scary movie, Mr. PCN would say, “But you know exactly how they did that, and it’s not real blood.” I’d say, “Yes, but it LOOKS real and that’s the point.”

I’m afraid I stopped watching awards shows ages ago. Hubby’s work included providing in house audio and video for all of the shows, so he’d come home and spoil the fun with “did you see that?” or “you know how we did that?” – lost it’s appeal, sort of like watching someone make sausage. I do, however, love that you recap it all! And the pink dress was really gorgeous – sexy and classy at the same time.

Wow. Cotillard looks amazing. That color blue is just stunning, and I love the way the fabric layers up to the hike. Gorgeous.

I rarely see many of the Oscar nominees, but I’ve already seen three this year! I feel so “in the know.” I really want to see Argo, but it’s already left the theater here. I’m hoping they bring it back.
