Watched the whole night, but kept thinking they were all holding back for the Oscars. Ricky Gervais had me giggling wickedly, though.
The evening felt damp, far beyond the impact of actual rain. It seem unready, from the outfits, the nominations, the winners and the overall tone.
]]>With respect to the television awards, I haven’t seen many of the shows that won (including Transparent, Jane The Virgin, The Affair), but was so very happy to see Gina Rodriguez and Jeffrey Tambor win. Those wins, along with the Transparent win, feel a bit like perhaps we’re diversifying a bit more, which is always a good thing. Granted this is the foreign press, which may be a little better on those issues. More press for shows like these can only be a good thing.
I was also really glad to see wins for shows from the CW and Amazon. While it can be a pain in the ass to try and track down all the shows you want to watch, to have so many options available to creative people who need an outlet and aren’t always welcomed with open arms into the major networks or cable channels is a fantastic thing.
People need to lay off the tanning products/beds.
I totally want to be a FOG.
Not enough Tina and Amy, though I thought the opening was fantastic and was so glad to see them kick Cosby’s ass.
The whole Margaret Cho bit felt really distasteful to me.
Steve Carell is the bomb.
Lupita! is right.
Jeremy Renner is creepy and can’t read well.
What the hell was up with Frances McDormand?
Seeing Bill Macy stroking Felicity Huffman’s back while they were caught unawares on camera was a really cool moment. After all these years.
I love Bill Hader, but he and Kristin Wiig were not good.
For some reason, perhaps the recent terror attacks, the show just didn’t seem as fun this year. The energy in the room felt different. Just me?
