Because I found -in a book – an autopsy report done on a plague victim during the Great Plague of London in 1665, and it was absolutely awesome. I read it with great glee. I’m probably not supposed to say that, am I? I’ve read at least twenty (non-fiction) books on the subject of Yersinia Pestis (the plague otherwise known as the Black Death), and to actually be able to read an autopsy was mesmerising, to hear a contemporary physician describing what physical effects it had on the entire body, inside and out, was super-creepy and shocking. It was also very enlightening.

And yes, of course in my own novels, there is a section where my characters contract the plague. I did not do all that research for nothing, even though it IS fun in its morbidly fascinating way. I’ve been a fan of the Black Death and its history forevever, it’s my favorite disease!

Pottery that incorporates ashes of your deceased family member or pet….I love pottery, but I will forever be giving new pieces the side eye and wondering…

Dolls are totally creepy, even when they’re cute. Especially when they’re TOO cute. Also, I think you’re awfully nice, too. Own it, sister! xx

Hi, Carol. I hope these didn’t alarm you too much. Sending you wishes for good health.

I went to three dermatologists to get diagnosed. While I didn’t know what I had I was looking up all sorts of autoimmune skin diseases. Some pictures really freaked me out. Thank goodness, those were very rare. Often, I would peep quickly and sometimes make a shocked sound and then never look at the picture again!
