I’ll be giving thanks on Thursday but today, I’m giving away the shooting script of Lee Daniels’s Precious, written by Geoffrey Fletcher based on the novel Push by Sapphire.
I’m certain the screenplay will receive one of the film’s multiple Oscar nominations so if Precious isn’t playing in your city yet, you can still read it and see what the buzz is about. This giveaway is open to everyone.
I’ll take entries until Monday, Nov. 30, 5 p.m. PST and will randomly draw 2 winners to receive scripts via e-mail. You must be a subscriber or Twitter follower to participate. Winners will only be announced here and on Twitter and have 48 hours to respond before alternate winners are chosen.
To enter, answer the following question:
- Who’s the most precious person in your life?
On that note, I’d like to wish my U.S. readers a very happy Thanksgiving spent with people for whom you’re most thankful.

November 25, 2009 at 7:30 amHappy Thanksgiving right back atcha, PCN!
It’s difficult for me to pick a “most” precious. If completely pressed for one, I’d probably say my dad. I’ve just always felt an extra-special closeness to him. But, all my family is precious to me, as are my friends. I don’t tend to be a person with an overwhelming number of actual friends, but those that are, I would do almost anything for – no questions asked. That’s good and bad. It lends itself to horrible heartbreak, but it also lends itself to amazing friendships – and much to be thankful for.
Happy Turkey Day!

November 25, 2009 at 7:39 amThe most precious people in my life are my twin preemie babies Claire and Jack. They were 11 weeks premature, and weighed 2 lbs 11 ounces and 3 lbs 11 ounces when they were delivered early to help cure my wife’s dangerous preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. My son burst his lung on his first day, and had to have a chest tube inserted into his side while breathing through special ventilators called a Tbird. He was sedated for a few weeks. His blood pressure dropped and he had to have a central line put in through his scalp and down through his neck to keep his heart strong. On her end, my daughter caught a staph infection that is resistant to treatment that’s called MRSA. But, I’m happy to say ultimately that they survived the hospital experience and now they are going through the normal growing process we hoped they would have a chance at.

November 25, 2009 at 1:22 pmThe most precious person in my life is my son, Lucas. I was 39 when he was born and I never thought I’d be a mother. My first words when I saw him were, “He’s so beautiful.” When he was small, I used to ask him, “Why do you suppose it is, that out of all the boys, I got the best one?” He is now a young man of 21. Next spring he will finish a four-year business degree and is a budding entrepreneur. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer child and I am so proud of the man he has become. His name is from the Latin and means ‘bringer of light’. And that’s exactly what he did for me. Precious? Beyond words.

November 25, 2009 at 4:13 pmOuch. Tough one! As Jen said, I don’t have ONE single precious person in my life. I think there’s quite a few, including my family and quite some friends.
But ones of the “most precious” were “my” children. When I was a Cub Scout leader (I quit about two months ago), I was soooo mamma goose (or is it pappa goose) with the kids -their ages ranged from 7 to 11 y.o.- and was very caring and protective of them… It was also very tough because you have to teach them, care and invest in their growth without becoming involved or interfere, as if you were just an observer. And of course there were some specially charismatic kids who I remember the most.
I have an apartment-building heart (“corazón de condominio”)… and it’s got a lot of place.

November 26, 2009 at 5:23 pmI have many very precious people around me, but if I had to pick one, it would probably be my twin sister! This girl is a real sunshine!!!
We’ve spent most of our life close to each other, and while very different, we feel really connected to each other. We’ve been through a lot together, constantly supporting each other, my qualities make up for her flaws and vice versa.
We may have some arguments or disagreements at times, but they just make us stronger in the end. And although we see each other a bit less than before (but still once a week I guess), there’s not a day when I don’t think of her at least once. “Precious” sounds underrated. Having her is a true blessing!

November 27, 2009 at 6:26 amI hope you don’t mind, especially since I couldn’t choose among them, but my wife and children meet that most precious status for me. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, PCN. Thanks for this.

November 29, 2009 at 10:43 pmHi PCN Happy Thanksgiving for everyone, and a very merry Christmas too.
Id love to win the script! So I tell you the most precioous person for me is my mother. She is a very special person, she does everything for me, she sets the example for me to watch and learn. She is different to everyone else.
Greetings from Argentina to everyone on these holidays.
