Hot Trailers: COWBOYS & ALIENS, RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

In case you weren’t watching the American Idol results show last night, the second Cowboys & Aliens trailer premiered and the movie, opening July 29, continues to look gooood. I can’t embed the video but you can see it here.

The trailer for another big summer movie debuted this week: Rise of the Planet of the Apes, starring James Franco, Freida Pinto, Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Brian Cox and Andy Serkis. Are you a fan of the previous ape movies? How does this origin story look to you? I can’t decide if it’s must-see for me.

Yep, these were two of my must watch films for the summer. It’ll be interesting to see if they successfully add to or revive the old Planet of the Apes franchise. Tim Burton’s re-imagining of the iconic sci-fi film sure didn’t — one the few of his I didn’t somewhat like (I hated that one, in fact). For Cowboys and Aliens, two names: Ana de la Reguera and Olivia Wilde (but, I hear there are two up and comers… a Craig and Ford something). Thanks, PCN.

I got a kick out of a little article at gammasquad.uproxx.com about the extended trailer for COWBOYS & ALIENS:

If I made this trailer it would just say, “Olivia Wilde naked and also Daniel Craig in tight slacks. JULY 29TH.” Don’t tell me that wouldn’t sell tickets. While, yes, I do agree that that could sell quite a few tickets, how ’bout showing the sisters a little love with Daniel Craig naked. Just sayin… 😉

le0—Yeah, I hear this movie will make those guys Craig and Ford movie stars. But it could just be hype.

Christine—Right? Though those pants he’s wearing on the poster don’t leave much to the imagination.

Oh, yeah! COWBOYS & ALIENS is a first weekend movie for sure! And is it wrong of me to say if a movie has Frida Pinto in it I don’t care what it’s about, I’m there?

It’s not wrong but you’d watch even if it’s a movie about male back waxing?

If frida was doing the waxing, absolutely. Perhaps I’m revealing too much.

Sad to say I had no idea about the RISE OF THE APES movie, but the trailer looks tempting enough to go see it in the theater. Didn’t see Tim Burton’s version of PLANET OF THE APES, but I loved the old ones!

Did you see this week’s episode of HOUSE? A wee tip of the hat to Ms. Wilde’s role in COWBOYS & ALIENS in the one scene. It was fun! That one I definitely won’t be waiting to see on On Demand.

Haven’t seen this week’s HOUSE yet–argh! It’s been a busy week and I’m so behind. I do know Thirteen’s back and where she’s been though not why.

When I saw the Apes trailer I thought, “Oh cool. Thirty-eight years later and they are making a new movie.” I totally forgot about the Mark Wahlberg one.

I know that this won’t make me very popular on this site, but I’m really not a James Franco fan.

I’m not going to judge you for not liking Franco. Now, if you say you hate Daniel Craig, we might have a problem.
