Who’s That Actor?! Pt. 3

In the last month or so, I’ve watched a lot of films and TV and noticed how many actors show up repeatedly. I’m not talking about big stars but thespians who do a ton of work but whose names still escape you. So I decided it’s time for “Who’s That Actor? Pt. 3,” where I post pictures of actors who should look familiar to you, and ask you to name them or at least one role they’ve played (here are part 1 and part 2). I will give no hints, since it’d be too easy to Google the info and arrive at the answer. There are also no prizes, only bragging rights that you are also a pop culture nerd, which I believe will get you lots of phone numbers at a bar.

Ready? Here goes.

How many can you name? Hit the comments and show off your nerdy stripes. If there are answers before yours, you don’t have to copy them because they’re not necessarily all right!

Come on! #3 is very easy!

He’s Ciarán Hinds, and I’ve seen him in Veronica Guerin, The Phantom of the Opera and he’s the other Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.

And isn’t #10 Radha Mitchell (from Silent Hill)

I’ll have to get to you later with the others. Need to check my memory (and DVD library).

Of course! #6 is CCH Pounder from The Shield!

Only #2 doesn’t look familiar, so I should be able to give reply on the others (should, I said).

        Got some more:

        5. Tim Guinee, he’s some soldier in both Iron Man movies.
        7. Michael Lerner The Calcium Kid
        9. Mark Pellegrino (duh! Jacob) Lost

I feel disappointed at myself. Should’ve recognized ole Jacob the first time… Maybe I need a little sleep…

I knew the first name for #3. #7 & #8 I know I’ve seen but don’t know the names. Everybody else is wallpaper to me.

I know the full names of 5 of them (1, 3, 5, 6, and 10), and recognized 8 of them in total (2 and 8 not ringing bells).

That CCH Pounder isn’t a household name is a crime.

I think the young lady pictured in #4 was in the television program last night about Bones’s sister. Other than that, I have no clue about these people.

    What fun…

The first one looks like a guy who’s in lots of cop shows/movies. Or that guy’s brother.

I’m then at a loss until #6, CCH Pounder, whom I recognize from ER and Fringe.

#10 looks like she played someone’s mom in something set in the south…

I love reading these comments, especially where you know them from, because they’re different from where I’ve seen them, which just proves these actors are all over the place.

    4 was on Party Down
    7 was in Barton Fink
8 was in something I like
    10 was in Deadwood

Getting their names exactly right is a challenge. CCH Pounder I do know also. This is harder than I thought. Makes me feel for my actor friends.

Where I know them from (most prominently), assuming they are who I think they all are:

1 – Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior
3 – Rome and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life
    4 – Cloverfield
5 – Iron Man and Blade
6 – The Shield and ER (she even classed up Psycho IV)
7- Godzilla and Eight Men Out
9 – The Closer (LOVE him in that role)
    10 – Red and Deadwood

    1) soooo familiar

    2)sooo familiar

    3) Cirian Hinds (remember him, cause I can never pronounce his name right.)

4)Liz Caplan (?) Hot Tub Time Machine, right?

    5)Tim Guinee

    6)CCH Pounder

7)Michael Lerner (only because I always got confused as a kid when they called him that name and yet I thought that was the name of the mother on the Waltons tv show, Michael Learned. And then there was that other actor, Ken Lerner. Made me crazy.)

    8)Ever Carradine (sp?)

    9) Sooo familiar

    10) Love her, but she looks different than when I first became aware of her in a movie she did with Bill Pullman. Never can remember her name.

I guess it’s time for the answers:

    1) Michael Kelly. I know him from THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU, DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE MORGANS? and PERSON OF INTEREST.

    2) Caroline Aaron. She guest stars on a lot of TV, including HAPPY ENDINGS, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, UGLY BETTY, MONK—just a few of the places I’ve seen her.

    3) Ciaran Hinds. I love it that several people knew his name instantly. I saw him recently in TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY, the last Harry Potter movie, and THE DEBT.

    4) Lizzy Caplan. Saw her this week on NEW GIRL, but I also know her from HOT TUB TIME MACHINE, MEAN GIRLS, and CLOVERFIELD.

    5) Tim Guinee. I’ve seen him everywhere, including the Iron Man movies, 24, LIE TO ME, THE MENTALIST, LIFE, ELI STONE, WATER FOR ELEPHANTS, and PERSON OF INTEREST.

    6) CCH Pounder. Had to slip in an easy one for you.

    7) Michael Lerner. Recently saw him in SUBURGATORY, but also know him from GODZILLA and DIRTY SEXY MONEY.

    8) Ever Carradine. She does a lot of TV, such as THE MENTALIST, RIZZOLI & ISLES, WOMEN’S MURDER CLUB, and 24.

    9) Mark Pellegrino. Like Elizabeth, I most recently enjoyed his work on THE CLOSER, but also remember him from BURN NOTICE, CHUCK, and PRISON BREAK.

    10) Kim Dickens. Recently saw her in the FOOTLOOSE remake, but, like EIREGO, I first noticed her in the old Bill Pullman movie, AGENT ZERO. Since then I’ve seen her in THE BLIND SIDE, HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG, and on LOST, among other things.

I’m hanging my head in shame. I can’t vaguely qualify as a nerd, not even in all lower case. But I know all their faces and could name a few of the shows they’ve been in. Small consolation.
